Please join the City of Middletown and the Community Building Institute Middletown, Inc. on October 17th, 2017 from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm for an OPEN HOUSE to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the dedication of the ARMCO COLORED CENTER (known now as the Robert “Sonny” Hill Jr. Community Center) by George M. Verity to the ARMCO COLORED ASSOCIATION.
The Center sure has changed a lot over the years, and we invite you and everyone from the community to come and tour your Community Center and the recent renovations, hear about the programming currently offered, and enjoy some refreshments. In addition, feel free to come and put up any pictures and memories of the Center to share on our 75th anniversary memory wall located in the lobby. Please bring images and anything else you think might illustrate the richness of your Center’s history.
A permanent timeline of the history of the Community Center is currently in the works and will be unveiled at a celebratory event scheduled for early 2018. Any pictures or artifacts you would like to donate towards the timeline can be dropped off at the Community Center up until November 30, 2017.
