The second edition of our Resilient Community Volunteer Training Workshop titled “HOPE…FAITH…GRIT…RESILIENCY” will be taking place on Saturday, the 28th of September 2019.
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Venue: The Robert “Sonny” Hill Community Center (800 Lafayette Ave, Middletown, Ohio 45044)
Speaker: La Shanda Sugg, LPC (Labors of Love)
We will be learning about how we can serve a community containing many people from difficult backgrounds and how this impacts our work.
We will figure out what is behind some behaviors that may seem inexplicable for people who do share such backgrounds. IN addition, we will learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), how trauma is defined and which experiences lead to trauma, the impact of trauma on brain development, and the 5 resilience factors found in people who overcome their trauma. We will move from asking “what is wrong with you?” to “what is strong with you?”. With tips and tools for faith leaders and volunteers, anyone can help turn adversity into resiliency.
This workshop is being provided at no charge to anyone working with youths & adults in Middletown.
